Mobile Computers

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

A notebook computer, also called a laptop, is a smaller mobile computer. The term laptop computer was coined back in the 80’s, because they were so small that they could sit on your lap. All notebook computers open like a book to reveal a 12″ to 20″ screen and a keyboard at the base with a touchpad. The touchpad is also known as a track pad which works as a mouse.

notebook tablet computer hardware is physically smaller in size and unremarkably less powerful than a desktop computer. Almost all notebooks can do anything a desktop can these days, right from playing CD’s, games, music, run office applications to surfing the net. With nearly all notebook computers having several built-in USB ports, any peripheral can be joined to a laptop including printers, mp3 players, and external hard drives.

Notebook Computers give the user the flexibility to operate wherever they desire, whether at home, at the beach in an airplane .Or even if they decide to live in Australia for instance. Wireless connectivity to the internet is one of the better features of notebook computers. Even before desktops worked wireless, people used their wireless connections with their laptop to surf the web anywhere they wished-for. Notebooks opened up an altogether new world with their mobile technology. Businessmen could fly across the country and keep their files with them and access them from their personal notebooks whenever necessary.

The notebook also found its use in the universities around the world for pupils to take down notes, look up for resources and explore issues online. When you possess a laptop, you are most certainly going to want a notebook computer accessory. There are all forms of notebook computer peripheral devices that help make portable computing simpler and more favourable.

Dont forget to make all this mobile internet on the go to run you need to have a moblie isp so what you need is the best broadband internet service provider. Otherwise you are restraining this great tool to solely the data files on your tablet notebook computer and not the resources of the internet

Making Clickable Maps With Great Hover Over Effects

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

A great way for website owners to categorize their articles or posts or any information related to specific areas or states is to have a clickable map on your web site instead of a dull list of links on your page.

I use the brilliant JQuery plugin MapHilight to create excellent hover over effects for my county and state maps of the world. It has revitalized interest in using such a technique to present clickable maps at your website or blog.

Creating a perfect hover over effect for any image map is an ordeal and plotting coordinates to make this effect is even more time consuming but very worthwhile as you can see in my demo clickable map of the Germany. If you dont pay attention to detail the effect is lost and it wont look good. I have plotted perfect coordinates for many county and state maps, to see the effect checkout my latest creation a clickable map of France.

However before we even start to plot coordinates we must make a decent clickable map image and this is a task untoo itself. Tracing borders and states is a time consuming business for any webmaster. To save you time, I have already created layered Photoshop Image Files of popular country maps complete with all state borders traced with guidance from Wikipedia.

There you have it a ready made kit for making amazing clickable maps for your website or blog, usually at 600 pixels width perfect for most web pages. The whole process of making a clickable map like this from scratch is very time consuming and can be very expensive to pay a webmaster to create this and even worse days and weeks of your own precious time if you decide to make it yourself. Plotting tight coordinates for the 130 counties of the United Kingdom and Ireland clickable map took me two weeks to complete. See the splendid result at my website www.clickable maps.com.

Whenever you or your clients need a good quality clickable map of USA, EUROPE or ASA, I provide full downloadable editable photoshop image files complete with html code to simply cut and paste into your webpage. Save hours, days weeks of your time. Joomla users who have problems displaying image maps on their pages, I have a solution for that problem too. See me at my website www.clickablemaps.com. Clickable maps for webmasters.

Top Tips - Customer Satisfaction Surveys

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Why should you bother?

The life blood of any business is good customer service. Although you should try and attract new customers good customer service will help generate customer loyalty and encourage repeat business. With each satisfied customer your business will secure many more customers through word of mouth and you should always keep in mind that if you are not taking proper care of your customers there is always a competitor that will.

A customer satisfaction survey will help by not only identifying problem areas but will also demonstrate to your customers that you care and are proactive in looking for ways to improve the service that you provide.

Where to start?

Objective - As a first step decide what the main objectives of the survey are, in that way you will be able to retain focus and find it easier to decide what questions to ask.

Analysis - When the survey is complete consider how you will analyze the answers.

Keep in mind that ‘closed’ questions (where the respondent is asked to choose from a limited number of responses) are easier to analyse than ‘open’ questions (where the respondent can reply in anyway they want).

A great deal will depend on the predicted volume of respondents, the higher the volume the more important it is to have an easy method of analysing the results.

Opportunity – Keep in mind that as well as obtaining valuable market research data customer surveys are also a good way to publicise aspects of your service that your customers may not be aware of.

Before you publish the survey confirm that the questions you have asked will provide you with market research data that when analyzed will help you make informed decisions.

Then, read through the survey from a marketing view point, check that you have phrased each question so that every opportunity has been taken to promote your business?

The ideal question will perform the following three functions:-

  • Market research - provide valuable feedback to help you improve your customer satisfaction levels and in turn your business
  • Marketing - promote aspects of your business
  • Information/Education - advertise a service that you provide that your customers may not have been unaware of

For example:- Do you find the in-store baby changing facilities useful?

In asking this question the store will hopefully not only receive useful feedback on the baby changing facility but they will also promote the store as being child-friendly even beyond the customers who actually require the facility.

Warts and all – to benefit most from a customer survey you need to avoid the temptation, in any way, of attempting to sugar coat the survey.

A customer satisfaction survey should be designed to highlight problems so that they can be addressed; regular customer satisfaction will prevent complacency and will also give early warning on where your competitors initiatives may be losing you business.

What should you ask?

Each business is likely to have unique factors in relation to providing good customer services however there are common areas that are going to be relevant to all businesses be they a physical store, online store or a service industry. The following are some key areas to providing good customer service.

Communication - Are you confident that you make it easy for your customers to communicate with you?

When a customer telephones is their call answered promptly; are enquiries about products or services handled properly? A good business will make every effort to ensure that whatever the customers query it is resolved by the right person, quickly, politely and fairly.

If a problem cannot be resolvable immediately do you promise to respond in a given time period and do you deliver on your promise?

Use a customer satisfaction survey to ensure that all your staff are considered by your customers to be knowledgeable, courteous and helpful.

Location – Do your customers find it easy to visit you, if a physical bricks and mortar store, is it conveniently located with good access?

Making it pleasant, making it easy - For a virtual business it is important to ensure that your website is easy to use and aesthetically pleasing.

Regardless of the store being a bricks and mortar or purely online web based store, is the store properly laid out and can your customers find what they need and is there sufficient detailed information and help on hand to explain how a particular product works?

The right quality products – You should not only measure the quality of the service that you provide but you should also monitor that the products and services that you market are what the customer wants and closely match their expectations.

Value for money – Cheap or expensive is hardly ever a good measure, value for money is.

Do your current customers consider the products you sell or the services you provide as value for money, if not, why not?

Speed and attention – No matter what the business, the majority of customers will want to be dealt with quickly but attentively.

Are you doing everything to prevent any delays?

Good businesses will try to treat each customer as an individual, does yours? Attention is one thing but this has to be hand- in-hand with a quick and satisfactory resolution of the query.

Demographics and Specific issues – Take the opportunity to profile your customers, for example where do they live and what is their age group?

The more you try to understand your customers the better you will be able to target your business.

Provide your customers with an opportunity to document any specific problems that they may have had and provide contact details so that problems can be resolved and followed up.

What is next?

Once the survey has been completed analyse the results.

Trends – Look for specific and common areas where the customer service is found wanting.

Ask yourself if any criticism is valid and is there anything that can be done to resolve or minimise the problem?

Training – Are the staff properly trained and do they have sufficient knowledge?

Where employee training programmes have been implemented have they had a positive impact on the business?

Follow-up – If a customer who has completed a survey has raised a specific issue do all you can to ensure that their complaint is addressed.

Do not waste an opportunity to resolve a problem and keep a customer.

Continuously Monitor - Based on the survey results make changes and then re-measure by issuing further surveys.

If you are concerned about customer satisfaction and would like to view a sample survey for a store that will demonstrate some of the above advice please view the Sample Customer Survey

Donating Car Parts and Broken Autos To Charities

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

After the updating of the laws concerning vehicle donations to charity, cars that are not running have been donated at a lower rate than was the case only some years ago, but even so, it doesn’t mean you have to keep that old car. It’s still possible to donate it to charity, albeit the tax deduction reward has been considerably reduced.

Normally, when you donate a vehicle that no longer runs, it will get towed away and sold, in essence, as a parts car. Though the majority of auto donations for autos in such a state are handled by a third-party (usually a for-profit company) agent as opposed to the charity itself, you are still able to get the old jalopy hauled away.

Nevertheless, you should know that that the deduction value which you can claim for a car sold on the wholesale market is considerably limited by the fractional amount it is likely to be sold for in addition to the overhead fees that are taken off the top by a third-party agent, the remaining value that is in fact given to the charity from the sale of the donated automobile is the extent of what may be written off under the new laws.

Ordinarily, the highest values for donated vehicles are obtained for cars and trucks that are still roadworthy, although some agencies will take some broken down cars and trucks for repair. If you can find an organization that has an ongoing mission of automotive training, even a non-working car has the possibility to be deducted at the higher “fair market value” in such cases.

Consequently, no matter how much it’s not running, such donated vehicles are still accepted by a numerous charities which accept automobile donations. Frequently, they will be bigger or national charities that don’t have a particular mission based on getting running cars to people. Unless there’s something especially cool or unique about your donated vehicle that would make it an ideal project car, you can presume that it will be sold for scrap or parts at a wholesale auction.

In spite of alterations to the law, there are still a lot of places that accept donated cars that are no longer running. The thing you have to consider is whether or not it has possibility of being fixed up for sale as a running vehicle.

Currency Trading: Turning Cash into Piles of Stocks

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Everybody generally recognize the idea of “the cash in our pockets” right at this moment. We understand that the US dollar changes its value each day, and that other nations economic currency may be having a higher value in comparison than the US dollar. Some people possess or assume that they have fundamental knowledge of the stock market and monetary futures. Currency trading can be a viable section of an enlarged investment channel; however you better realise that there are dissimilarities between managing currency and other stock transactions. Currency exchange is an interesting investment options.

Currency trading is not executed in the similar manner as that of stocks, futures or options. There is not a synchronized regulated trading for currency deals, nor is there an administrating, regulating unit, so the exchanges are not regulated. This eradicates arbitrage in the occasion of a currency trading dispute, and the absolute majority of the trading is depended on international and local credit accords. The entire procedure is executed through trust and the promising word of one dealer to another.

This trust and word-to-word dealing might truly be much more reasonable and impartial than the very well designed stock market in some ways since the currency dealers should trust on one another to execute their deals. They trust on one another for trades but at the same time they compete against each other but also help one another every day. Another major difference between currency deals and stock trades is the ability to turn a profit from specks and segments of information and news collected in discussions during commercial dealings. In the open stock market, such detail would be took as “insider information trading,” and permitting others know about it is considered as a serious, accusable offence. In currency trading, there is no suchlike law blocking you from gaining profits of latest rumors or market news. Actually, in currency trading, the kind of information that would be assumed as “insider information” in any other market is leaked out to currency traders days before the news is made available to all.

Stocks and futures are dealt by means of an agent or a professional broker who gains a pretty percentage or a fixed cost on the dealings. Currency trading markets do not use such a pricing; hence the buyer or seller must be aware of that before any dealing. Because this actual reality, currency trading might not be the smartest option for the beginner or a debutant dealer. Start your portfolio with a couple of good ranking stocks dealing closely with a broker, and then step by step, after an initial success start scattering wider after reaching some market primary skills and some basic credit knowledge. The moment you are ready for currency trading, recognize the similar easy laws that are relevant to entire dealers: identify your market, understand your boundaries and recognize the threats and risks on the balance.

Why the Dollar is Not Money

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Few people realize that the dollar is not money and so they leave themselves open to be robbed. The dollar is a fraud that has been foisted on an unsuspecting public by governments inflating the money supply. Let me explain.

Real money has certain desirable features that allow it to function in commerce. These required features or criteria were developed over centuries of experience in trade. Time tested features of true money include -

1. It must be a medium of exchange. In other words it must be available in sufficient quantity, be easily tradable, and have only a small difference in price between buying and selling. The money should be easy to transport - which is facilitated if it has a high value to weight ratio. In some of these respects the dollar qualifies as a medium of exchange, but read on.

2. It needs to be a unit of account. The money should be capable of being divided into smaller units without damaging its value. In the case of precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum, they can be traded as bars or melted down and formed into much smaller units like coins, and if required, melted down into bars again. This is why olden day barter goods like wheat or animals are not suitable as money.

3. It must also be fungible. This means that any one unit should be identical to another of the same unit. For example two coins of the same unit should be identical in size, weight, and metallic content.

4. It helps if money is a fixed weight or measure so that it is easy to count. Paper notes for example have different face values but weigh the same, making them a poor measure.

5. Most importantly, money should be a store of value. After all, if you exchange goods or property for money you want something of equivalent value in exchange. Paper money is just pieces of paper with pictures on it and has no intrinsic worth, yet every day people exchange worthless pieces of paper for physical goods. This state of affairs has only existed in the last century and will not last much longer.

6. The value must be stable and not subject to major fluctuations, and it must be real and genuine, not an artificially created value, as with paper money.

7. In addition it should be difficult to counterfeit while still being easy to recognize. Once again paper money fails this test.

Centuries, and indeed millenia, have resulted in two metals in particular  assuming a leading role as money. These metals are gold and silver, with copper filling a minor role. Gold and Silver meet all the requirements listed above.

When gold and silver were used as money, inflation was vitually unknown. Inflation is associated with the fiat money (paper money) system that is now in place across the world. Governments print paper money (or the electronic equivalent) in steadily increasing amounts which inflates the money supply. This increased money supply pushes up the prices of the fixed amount of goods and services that are available. This is what causes inflation. Inflation is a thief which steals your wealth because the value of your cash is continually decreasing. A dollar today will only buy 5% of what a dollar could buy back in the 1920’s when the U.S. and most countries were still on a gold based monetary system.

One way to preserve wealth in inflationary times is to purchase items which are stores of value. Anything which cannot be produced in ever increasing amounts qualifies, but only gold and silver which are limited in supply, and difficult to obtain, are qualified to also act as money. Gold bullion and silver bullion, along with gold coins and silver coins are becoming increasingly scarce as investors seek to preserve their wealth in these inflationary times. Supply is diminishing while demand is increasing. Check out the prices and availability online and buy bullion while you still can. The dollar is about to be consigned to the scrap heap of history, to be replaced by real money.
